Fitted hat sizes are the diameter of the head in inches. 7 × 3.1416 gives 21.99 inches of head circumference, which is 55.9 cm. New Era lists 7 as 55.8 cm, so expect brands to round by a few millimetres. In the UK the same hat is a 6 ⅞, and in Europe it is a size 56.
